Var oprindeligt et spil kaldet Yume Koujou: Doki Doki Panic til Nintendos Famicom Disk System. Man tilpassede spillet Mario-universet og udgav det i vesten.

Nintendo i Amerika mente at den japanske udgave af Super Mario Bros. 2 mindede for meget om originalen og sværhedsgraden var for høj.

Blev senere udgivet i Japan under navnet "Super Mario USA".
