A new fan-based remake of Squares classic Chrono Trigger is in the works. A couple of guys have taken up the challenge to resurrect 10 of the best scenes from the game in full 3D. And yes, that is correct - unfortunately just 10 scenes, not the whole game. But the good news is that the project is 25% complete and should be finished around Christmas this year. A demo for PC will be distributed among the masses, and developers will also have the chance to enjoy console conversions.

"Chrono Trigger: Resurrection is a 3D remake of Square's SNES classic, Chrono Trigger. The demo, which will be released Christmas 2004, re-creates ten of the best scenes from the original game.

Currently, the demo is 25% complete. We expect to release a trailer when the demo is over 50% completed, which should be around the end of August. When the project is completed, only the PC version will be released to the public for free. The GameCube and Xbox ports are internal and only official developers (for those respective platforms) will be able to play them.

UPDATE: On September 7, 2004 the team got a C&D written letter from a lawyer at Square Enix Co., Ltd. asking them to stop the project immediately. And so they did.
