Intellivision System Changer

Reviews

The System Changer for the Intellivision, released in 1983, made the Intellivision supreme in the category of "who has most released games". As the System Changer was initially a Atari 2600 clone, with this add-on it was possible to play the huge library of the Atari 2600 and of course the library of the Intellivision itself.

It should be mentioned that Atari did of course threaten to sue, but as the Atari 2600 was made of off-the-shelf hardware, with no copyrightable software (as opposed to the Intellivision) it was estimated that this cloning would probable be considered legal, and no lawsuit appeared. From hereon a flood of Atari 2600 clones appeared.
