One other player had a similar take on it,
but one not nearly so harrowing.
He said that since he’d gotten his Xbox,
he’d been smoking less.
He found he lit one up and then
let it burn down,
forgotten, in the ashtray.
Xbox: Could it be the best
thing since nicotine gum? Who knows
… the next testimonial I receive may be
from someone who quit entirely because
the Xbox satisfies all the emotional,
physical, and mental addictions that
cigarettes once did.
(“Xbox tastes good like a console should.
Come to Xbox country … “)

An X on My Report Card
You would expect that having an Xbox
would adversely affect one’s grades,
and while many players did report
this to be the case,
it wasn’t always so.
At least one player announced,
quite at his own amazement,
that his grades had actually
improved since the purchase of his Xbox.
It may be that his Xbox has proved to be
such a stress-relieving mechanism that
he doesn’t spend all his time
at the mall anymore or that the
efficiency strategies he’s learned
via gaming have helped him with his studies.
I’d say we could all take lessons from him!
All in all, I heard some
interesting stories of
how the Xbox has changed people’s lives.
Everyone had a story to tell.
It seems that no matter who you are,
once you’ve got the X in your life,
you’d better expect that things
will never be the same.
My favorite response of all came
from a gamer named Snaggle, who said,
“I spend a lot less money at bars.
” Some of us here thought about that
for a while and decided it meant one
of two things: either he drinks less
or he has friends buying him drinks
because they want to play on his Xbox!
