A young woman stuck in debt and dead end jobs takes a part time job at a seaside rest home for gay men. There, she has to come to terms with the homosexuality of her terminally ill father and his ex-lover.
The film is a collaboration between director Isshin Inudo and scriptwriter Aya Watanabe, who had great success with their first film, Josee, the Tiger and the Fish. At the recent Japanese film festival Nippon Connection, held in April 2007 in Frankfurt am Main, La Maison de Himiko won the
Nippon Cinema Award as the favourite film of the audience.
