Nintendo 64 Wideboy CGB

This is a developers cartridge made by the only authorized developmental tool creators for Nintendo items, Intelligent Systems.

This cartridge would plug directly into a Nintendo 64 to allow for Gameboy cartridges to be displayed on a regular TV, which meant that the game could then be controlled using the N64 controller.

It was eventually a developers tool, and was made to allow for more people, developers, producers, and decision makers to see and experience games on a larger screen than the tiny Gameboy screens. With the use of the Wideboy it was also possible to do individual sprite manipulation as well as take better screen shots. Also, these units were used to show of Gameboys to a large groups of people at a time e.g. at a tradeshow.

As all other development tools, these units could only be bought directly from Nintendo - and only if you happened to be an authorized developer.
