Xeye
The Xeye was the US equivalent to the Wondermega, released only in Japan. However, in the US it was renamed and redesigned, and it even lost a lot of its functions in this transition. Being able to play both Genesis and Sega CD games and featuring a karaoke function, Sega and JVC wanted this "home entertainment unit" placed in the entertainment section of retail stores, while the Genesis and Sega CD should still be promoted as toys.
Released with a price tag of $499 and being released 5 months after the CDX, the Xeye never proved popular amongst kids or adults. |
