Super Famicom Satellaview Satellite

The Satellaview was released in Japan only in 1995. It was a modem add-on for the Super Famicom, and with the unit locked into place beneath the Super Famicom the user could download new games, cheats, tips and demos, aswell as recieving news, info about Nintendo and much more.

It all sounds great, but the main problem with the unit was the fact that is used a Japanese sattelite system called "St GIGA", which had a lot of downsides.

Firstly you could only download games and demos when it was beeing "broadcasted" at a certain time. The games downloaded could be saved on RAM cartridges called BS-X Special Broadcast Cassettes - these are of course very rare now, as this is the only way to play these games, as many were exclusive to the Satellaview.

The Satellaview was realeased in March 1995 at a price of 14,000 Yen.
